J UNE 4, 1934 . of the water supplies of dairy farms, and to such other sanitary works as in the judgment of the health officer will promote the public health, whether such examinations be or be not directly related to contagious diseases . For isolating wards for minor contagious diseases at Garfield Memorial Hospital, maintenance, $25,000, or so much thereof as in the opinion of the Commissioners may be necessary . For the maintenance of a dispensary or dispensaries for the treat- ment of indigent persons suffering from tuberculosis and of indigent persons suffering from venereal diseases, including payment for personal services, rent, supplies, and contingent expenses, $42,998 : Pr ovided , T hat the Commissioners may accept such volunteer serv- ices as they deem expedient in connection with the establishment and maintenance of the dispensaries herein authorized : Provided further, That this shall not be construed to authorize the expenditure or the payment of any money on account of any such volunteer service . For enforcement of the provisions of an Act to provide for the drainage of lots in the District of Columbia, approved May 19, 1896 (29 Stat ., pp. 125-126), and an Act to provide for the abate- ment of nuisances in the District of Columbia by the Commis- sioners, and for other purposes, approved April 14, 1906, $1,000 . Hygiene and sanitation, p ublic schools , salaries : For personal services in the conduct of hygiene and sanitation work in the public schools, including the necessary expenses of maintaining free dental clinics, $84,554 : Provided, That of the persons employed as med- ical inspectors on e shall be a w oman, four sh all be dentis ts, and four shall be of the colored race, and that of the graduate nurses employed as public-school nurses three shall be of the colored race . For maintenance of laboratories, including reference books and periodicals, apparatus, equipment, and necessary contingent and miscellaneous expenses, $1,800 . For contingent expenses incident to the enforcement of an Act relating to the adulteration of foods and drugs in the District of Columbia approved February 17, 1898 (30 Stat ., pp . 246-248), an Act to prevent the adulteration of candy in the District of Colum- bia, approved May 5, 1898 (30 St at ., p . 398) , an Act for pre vent ing the manufacture, sale, or transportation of adulterated or mis- branded or poisonous or deleterious foods, drug, medicines, and liquors, and for regulating traffic therein, and for other purposes, approved June 30, 1906 (34 Stat ., pp . 768-772), and an Act to regulate, within the District of Columbia, the sale of milk, cream, and i ce cream, and for other pur poses, approv ed February 2 7, 1925 (43 Stat ., pp . 1004-1008), including traveling and other necessary expenses of dairy-farm inspectors ; and including not to exceed $100 for special services in detecting adulteration of drugs and foods, including candy and milk, $6,000 : Provided, That inspectors of dairy farms may receive an allowance for furnishing privately own ed motor vehi cles in the p erformance of official duti es at° th e rate of not to exceed $312 per annum for each inspector . For maintenance and operation of motor ambulances and motor veh icles, $900 . Child welfare and hygiene : For maintaining a child-hygiene service, including the establishment and maintenance of child-wel- fare stations for the clinical examinations, advice, care, and main- tenance of children under six years of age, payment for personal services, rent, fuel, periodicals, and supplies, $45,834 : Pr ovided , That the Commissio ners may accep t such volunt eer services as they may d eem expedient in connection with the est ablishment an d main-
