For fuel, ice, gas, l aundry work, stati onery, books of ref erence , periodicals, typewriters and repairs thereto, preservation of records, mops, brooms, and buckets, removal of ashes and refuse, telephone service , trav eling expens es, me als of jurors and p risone rs, re pairs to courthouse and grounds, furniture, fixtures, and equipment, and other incidental expenses not otherwise provided for, $2,750 . The disbursing officer of the District of Columbia is authorized to advance to the chief probation officer of the juvenile court upon requisition previously approved by the judge of the juvenile court and the auditor of the District of Columbia, sums of money not to exceed $50 at any one time, to be expended for transportation and traveli ng exp enses to sec ure th e retu rn of a bscond ing pr obatio ners, and to be accounted for monthly on itemized vouchers to the account- ing officer of the District of Columbia . POL ICE COURT Salaries : For personal services, $90,000 . For law book s, books of refere nce, dire ctories, periodica ls, stati on- ery, preservation of records, typewriters and repairs thereto, fuel, ice, gas, electric lights and power, telephone service, laundry work, removal of ashes and rubbish, mops, brooms, buckets, dusters, sponges, painter's and plumber's supplies, toilet articles, medicines, soap and disinfectants, lodging and meals for jurors and bailiffs when ordered by the court, United States flags and halyards, and all other necessary and incidental expenses of every kind not other- wise provided for, $5,100, of which not exceeding $750 shall be avail- able fo r tele phone and te legrap h serv ice . For witness fees and compensation of jurors, $23,000 . For repairs and alterations to building, $1,500 . MUNICIPA L COURT Salaries : For personal services, including compensation of five judges without reference to the limitation in this Act restricting salaries within the grade, $68,166 . For compensation of jurors, $4,000 : Provided, That deposits made on demands for jury trials in accordance with rules prescribed by the cou rt und er aut hority grant ed in section 11 of the A ct app roved March 3, 1921 (41 Stat ., p . 1312), shall be earned unless, prior to three days before the time set for such trials, including Sundays and leg al hol idays, a new date for tr ial be set by the c ourt, cases be discontinued or settled, or demands for jury trials be waived . For contingent expenses, including books, law books, books of reference, fuel, light, telephone, lodging and meals for jurors, and for deputy United States marshals while in attendance upon jurors, when ordered by the court ; fixtures, repairs to furniture, building and bui lding equipm ent, a nd all other necess ary mi scella neous items and supplies, $3,000 . 86637•-34 55 Courts and prisons .
