[CHAPTER 472 .] AN ACT Validating certain conveyances heretofore made by Central Pacific Railway Company, a corporation, and its lessee, Southern Pacific Company, a corpora- tion, involving certain portions of right- of-way, i n and in the vicin ity of th e town of Gridley, all in the county of Butte, State of California, acquired by Central Pacific Railway Company under the Act of Congress approved July 25, 1866 (14 Stat. L. 239). Be it enacted by the Senate and House o f Representatives o f the United States of Ame rica in Cong ress ass embl ed, That the convey- ance s he rein afte r pa rtic ular ly d escr ibed and her etof ore exec uted by Central Pacific Railway Company, a . corporation, and its lessee, Sout hern Pac ific Com pany , a corp orat ion, inv olvi ng c erta in l ands or interests therein, in and in the vicinity of the town of Gridley, all in the county of Butte, State of California, and forming a part of the right-of-way of said Central Pacific Railway Company, granted by the Government of the United States of America by an Act of Con- gress approved July 25, 1866, entitled "An Act granting lands to aid in the construction of a railroad and telegraph line from the Central Pacific Railroad in California, to Portland in Oregon" (14 Stat . L . 239), are hereby legalized, validated, and confirmed with the same force and effect as if the land involved therein had been held at the time of such conveyances by the corporations making the same under absolute fee-simple title . The conveyances, recorded in the office of the county recorder of Butte County, California, in book of official records, which are hereby legalized, validated, and confirmed, are as follows : 1. Provided, That such legalization, validation, and confirmation shall not in any instance diminish said right-of-way to a width less than sixty feet on either side of the center of the main track or tracks of said Central Pacific Railway Company as now established and main- tain ed : And pro vid ed fu rth er, That nothing herein contained is intended or shall be construed to legalize, validate, or confirm any rights, titles, or interests based upon or arising out of adverse pos- session, prescription or abandonment, and not confirmed by convey- ance heretofore mace by Central Pacific Railway Company and its lessee, Southern Pacific Company : And provided further, That there shall be rese rved t o the U nited S tates all oil , coal, or ot her min erals in the land, and the right to prospect for, mine, and remove the same under such r ules and regu lations as th e Secretary of the Interior may prescribe .
