Capitol Police. Salaries : Captain, $2,700 ; three lieutenants, at $1,740 each ; two Salaries . special officers, at $1,740 each ; three sergeants, at $1,680 each ; fifty- two privates, at $1,620 each ; one-half of said privates to be selected by the Sergea nt at Arms of the Senate and one-h alf by the Sergea nt at Arms of the House ; in all, $100,680 : Provided, That no part of Proviso . dsprescribed, any appropria tion contained in this Act shall b e paid as compens a- tion to any p erson appointed a fter June 30, 193 5, as an officer or member of the Capitol Police (including those for the Senate and House Of fice Buil dings) who does not meet the standards to be prescribed fo r such appointees by the Capitol P olice Board . For purchasing and supplying uniforms, for maintenance and Uniforms, etc° repair of motor-propelled passenger-carrying vehicles, and for con- tingen t expense s, $10,000 , of whic h $600 sha ll be imme diately available for the exchange of two such vehicles .
