STATEMENT OF APPROPRIATIONS For preparation, under the direction of the Committees on Appropriations of the Senate and House of Representatives of the statements for the second session of the Seventy-fourth Congress, showing appropriations made, indefinite appropriations, and con- tracts authorized, together with a chronological history of the reg- ular appropriation bills, as required by law, $4,000, to be paid to the persons designated by the chairman of such committees to do the work. ARCHITECT OF THE CAPITOL OFFICE OF THE ARCHITECT OF THE CAPITOL Archit ect, as sistant, and office personnel . Salaries : For the Architect of the Capitol, Assistant Architect of the Capitol, and other personal services at rates of pay provided by law ; and the Assistant Architect of the Capitol shall act as Architect of the Capitol during the absence or disability of that official or whenever there is no Architect ; $51,900 . CAPITOL BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS and grounds . Maintenance, repair, Capitol Buildings : For necessary expenditures for the Capitol etc' Bui lding and elect rical subs tatio ns of the Senat e and Hous e Off ice Buildings, under the jurisdiction of the Architect of the Capitol, including minor improvements, maintenance, repair, equipment, supplies, material, fuel, oil, waste, and appurtenances ; furnishings and office equipment ; personal and other services ; cleaning and repairing works of art ; purchase or exchange (not to exceed $1,000), maintenance, and driving of motor-propelled passenger-carrying off ice v ehicle ; not exceeding $300 for the purch ase of technical and necessary reference books, periodicals, and city directory ; and pay of superintendent of meters, and $300 additional for the maintenance of an automobile for his use, who shall inspect all gas and electric meters of the Government in the District of Columbia without additional compensation, and in his absence, disability, or when there is no superintendent of meters, these duties shall be performed by any other employee designated by the Architect of the Capitol
