Maintenance and repairs, Naval Academy : For necessary repairs of public buildings, wharves, and walls enclosing the grounds of the Naval Academy, accident prevention, improvements, repairs, and fixtures ; for books, periodicals, maps, models, and drawings ; pur- chase and repair of fire engines ; fire apparatus and plants, ma- chinery ; purchase and maintenance of all horses and horse-drawn vehicles for use at the academy, including the maintenance, opera- tion, and repair of three horse-drawn passenger-carrying vehicles to be used only for official p urposes ; s eeds and p lants ; t ools and r epairs of the same ; stationery ; furniture for Government buildings and offices at the academy, including furniture for midshipmen's rooms

coal and other fuels ; candles, oil, and gas ; attendance on light and power plants ; cleaning and clearing up station and care of build- ings ; attendance on fires, lights, fire engines, fire apparatus, and plants, and telephone, telegraph, and clock systems ; incidental labor, advertising, water tax, postage, telephones, telegrams, tolls, and fer- riage ; flags and awnings ; packing boxes ; pay of inspectors and dr a f ts m e n ; and music and astronomical instr uments, $975,380 : Pr o- vided, That the sum to be paid out of this appropriation for em- ployees assigned to group IV (b) and those performing similar services carried under native and alien schedules in the Schedule of Wages for Civi l Employ ees in th e Field Service o f the Nav y Department shall not exceed $24,900 . NAV AL HOM E, PHI LAD ELP HIA , PENNSYLVANIA For pay of employees, $90,120 : Provided, That the sum to be paid out of this appropriation for employees assigned to group IV (b) and those performing similar services carried under native and alien schedules in the Schedule of Wages for Civil Employees in the Field Service of the Navy Department shall not exceed $15,500 ; Maintenance : For water rent, heating, and lighting ; cemetery, burial expenses, and headstones ; g en era l car e a nd im pr ove men ts of grounds, buildings, walls, and fences ; repairs to power-plant equip- ment, implements, tools, and furniture, and purchase of the same ; music in chapel and entertainment for beneficiaries ; stationery, books, and periodicals ; transportation of indigent and destitute bene- ficiaries to the Naval Home, and of sick and insane beneficiaries, their attendants and necessary subsistence for both, to and from other Government hospitals ; employment of such beneficiaries in and about the Naval Home as may be authorized by the Secretary of the Navy, on the recommendation of the governor ; support of . beneficiaries and all other contingent expenses, including the main- tenance, repair, and operation of two mot or-propelled vehicles, and one motor-propelled passenger-carrying vehicle to be u sed only for official purposes, $99,880 ; In all, Naval Home, $190,000 .
