Care of the dead . For the care of the dead ; for funeral expenses and interment or transportation to their homes or to designated cemeteries of the remains of officers (includ ing officers who die within the Uni ted States) and enlisted men of the Navy and Marine Corps, of members of the Nurse Corps, reservists on active or training duty, and accepted applicants for enl istment, civilian employees of the Navy Department and Naval Establishment who die outside of the conti- nental limits of the United States, and former enlisted men who are discharged while in naval hospitals and are inmates of said hospitals on the date of their death ; for funeral expenses and interment of the remains of pensioners and destitute patients who die in naval hospitals ; for purchase and care of cemetery lots ; for care of graves outsi de of the continenta l limits o f the Unit ed States, including those in sites not owned by the United States ; for removal of remains from aba ndone d cem eteri es to nava l or natio nal c emete ries, or to their homes, including remains interred in isolated graves at home and abroad, and remains tempora rily interred, $70,000 : Pro vi de d, That the above provision shall apply in the case of officers and enlisted men of the Navy and Marine Corps on the retired list who die while on active duty . purchase, main tenance, repair, and operation of passenger-carrying vehicles for the Navy Department (not to exceed ten in number) and the Naval Establishment not otherwise provided for; not to exceed $1,600,000 for employees assigned to group IV (b) and those performing similar services carried under native and alien sc hedules i n the Sch edule of Wages fo r Civil Employees in the Field Service of the Navy Department, and part-time or intermit- tent employmen t in the District of Columbia, or elsewhere, of such engineers and architects as may be contracted for by the Secretary of the Navy, in his discretion, at a rate of pay not exceeding $25 per diem for any person so employed, $7,450,0010 : Provided, That during the fiscal year 1937 the motor-propelled passenger- carrying vehicles to be purchased hereunder shall not exceed the following respective numbers and costs : Ten at $1,800 each, fifty-one at $550 each, and one motor bus at $3,950 : Provided further, That expenditures from appropriations contained in this Act for the main- tenance, operation, and repair of motor-propelled passenger-carrying vehicles . including the compensation of civilian chauffeurs and the Interment or trans- portation expenses.
