MARI NE CORP S PAY, MARINE CORPS Pay of officers, active list : For pay and allowances prescribed by law for al l offi cers o n the a ctive list-p ay and allow ance, $ 4,233, 706, including not to exceed $212,427 for increased pay for making aerial flights, none of which shall be available for increased pay for making aeri al fli ghts b y nonf lying o fficer s at a rate in exc ess of $1,440 per annum, w hich shall be t he legal maxim um rate as to s uch nonflying officers ; subsistence allowance, $573,123 ; rental allowance, $766,154 ; in all, $5,572,983 ; and no part of such sum shall be available to pay active-duty pay and allowances to officers on the retired list ; For pay of officers prescribed by law on the retired list, $1,329,195 ; Pay of enlisted men, active list : For pay and allowances of non- commissioned officers, musicians, and privates, as prescribed by law, and for the expenses of clerks of the United States Marine Corps traveling under orders, including not to exceed $250 for the expenses of att enda nce upon mee ting s of tec hnic al, prof essi onal , sc ientif ic, and other organizations, when, in the judgment of the Secretary of the Navy, such attendance would be of benefit in the conduct of the work of the Marine Corps, and including additional compensa- tion for enlisted men of the Marine Corps qualified as expert rifle- men, sharpshooters, marksmen, or regularly detailed as gun captains, gun pointers, cooks, messmen, including interest on deposits by enlisted men, post-exchange debts of deserters, and of men discharged or sentenced to terms of imprisonment while in debt to the United States, under such rules as the Secretary of the Navy may prescribe, and the authorized travel allowance of discharged enlisted men, and for pri zes fo r exce llence in gun nery e xercis es and target pract ice, a nd for pay of enlisted men designated as Navy mail clerks and assist- ant Navy mail clerks both afloat and ashore, and for gratuities to enlisted men discharged not under honorable conditions-pay and allowances, $7,780,526 ; allowance for lodging and subsistence , $632,399 ; in all, $8,412,925 ; For pay and allowan ces prescribed by law of enli sted men on the retired list, $841,600 ; Undrawn clothin
