INTERIOR DEPARTMENT OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY Furniture, furnishings, and equipment, new Interior Department Building : The Secretary of the Interior is hereby authorized to expend, directly or through the Procurement Div ision of the Treas- ury Department, for furniture, furnishings, and office equipment necessary to the occupancy of the new Interior Department Build- ing, and the reassignment of space in the prese nt Interior Depart- ment Building, and for services, supplies, material, and equip- ment, including the reconditioning of old furniture, and nece ssary travel and subsistence in connection with the inspection of com- modities to be contracted for or purchased, not to exceed $225,000 of the amount made available for the construction of the new Interior Department Building : Provided, That, in the procurement of such furniture, furnishings, and equipment, the Secretary of the Interior or the s aid P rocur ement Divi sion is he reby autho rized to m ake c on- tracts, after advertising and competitive bidding, without regard to section 4 of the Act approved June 17, 1910 (36 Stat . 531) : And provided further, That the cost of furniture, furnishings, and equip- ment, exclusive of duplicating and filing equipment in areas devoted exclusively to such purposes, shall be based on the square-foot areas of the rooms to be furnished and equipped, and shall not exceed the rates herein set forth, as follows : For suites of the Secretary and the Under Secretary, $1 .75 jeer square foot ; for suites of the Assistant Secretaries and of executive officers of equivalent compensation grade, $1 .50 per square foot ; for all other space, $1 per square foot . War Minerals Relief Commission : For payment of awards made by the Secretary of the Interior in accordance with the Act of Con- gress appro ved M ay 18 , 19 36 (P ublic , Num bered 602, Seve nty-f ourth Congress) amending section 5 of the War Minerals Relief Act of March 2, 1919, as amended, February 13, 1929, fiscal year 193 6, to remain avai lable duri ng t he fi scal year 1937, $500 ,000 : Pr ov i de d, That all awards made by the Secretary of the Interior for payment under this appropriation shall be certified to the General Accounting Office f or settlem ent throug h that off ice . DIVISION OF GRAZING CONTROL Salaries and expenses : The limitation of $5,000 on the amount that may be expended for the purchase, exchange, operation, and maintenance of motor-propelled passenger-carrying vehicles from the appropriation for salaries and expenses of the Division of Grazing Control contained in the Department of the Interior Appropriation Act for the fiscal year 1936 is hereby increased to $7,500 GENER AL LAN D OFF ICE Payments to certain counties in Oregon in lieu of taxes on Oregon and California grant lands (receipt limitation)
