For law books, books of r eference, directories, periodicals, station- ery, preservation of records, typewriters and repairs thereto, fuel, ice, gas, electric lights and power, telephone service, laundry work, remova l of ashes and r ubbis h, mo ps, br ooms, buck ets, duster s, sp onges , painter's and plumber's supplies, toilet articles, medicines, soap and disinfectants, lodging and meals for jurors and bailiffs when ordered by the court, United States flags and halyards, and all other necessa ry and incidental expenses of every kind not otherwise provided for, $6,100 . of which not exceeding $750 shall be available for telephone and telegraph service . For witness fees and compensation of jurors, $22,500 . For repairs and alterations to building, $1,500 . For commencing construction of aa building in Judiciary Square to house the Police Court of the District of Columbia, including furni- ture and equi pment , an d in spec tion, $1, 000, 000, to b e im medi ately available ; and the Commissioners of the District of Columbia are authorized to enter into one or more contracts for such construction at a cost not to exceed $1,500,000 .
