(1) However, these installations and stations must, so far as possible, comply with the regulatory provisions concerning aid to be rendered in case of distress and measures to be taken to avoid inter- ference. They must also, to the extent possible, comply with the regulatory provisions concerning the types of waves and the fre- quencies to be used, according to the nature of the service performed by the said services. (2) Moreover, when these installations and stations exchange public correspondence or engage in the special services governed by the Regulations annexed to the present Convention, they must, in general, comply with the regulatory provisions for the conduct of such services. CHAPTER V FINAL PROVISIONS ARTICLE 40 Effective Date oj the Convention The present Convention shall become effective on the first day of January, nineteen hundred and thirty-four. In witness whereof the respective plenipotentiaries have signed the Convention in a single copy which shall remain deposited in the archives of the Government of Spain and one copy of which shall be forwarded to each government.
