Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the S¤¤*’<>¤¤’Y °f United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary 3;;*:1 féugsid of War cause to be paid the companies of Captains Johnson, Hender-

 scm, Knight, Jones, and North, for services rcndcrcd in the year eightccn hundred and forty, according to the muster-rolls of said companies,

now on filc in the War Department, made out and vcriiicd by Captain J. Brown, of the United States army; and that he cause to be paid, also, the companies of Captains Jernigan and Swcat, for services rcndered in the year eighteen hundred and forty-cnc, according to the muster-rolls of said companies, now on file in tha War Department, as verified by Assistant Adjutant General W. W. S. Bliss, of the United States army; und that the laws and regulations applicable to the payment of the volunteers and militia of the United States govern in the payment Appropriation of these companies; and that the sum of nineteen thousand three hun-
