MIS CELLA NEOUS EXPEN SES, DEPAR TMENT OF AG RICUL TURE For stationery, blank books, twine, paper, gum, dry goods, soap, brushes, brooms, mats, oils, paints, glass, lumber, hardware, ice, furniture, carpets, and mattings ; for freight, express charges, adver- tising and press clippings, telegraphing, telephoning, postage, wash- ing towels ; for the maintenance, repair, and operation of one motor- cycle and not to exceed three motor-propelled passenger-carrying vehicles (including one for the Secretary of Agriculture, one for gen- eral utility needs of the entire Department, and one for the Forest Service) and purchase of one motor-propelled passenger-carrying vehicle at not to exceed $2,500, including the exchange value of one such vehicle, for official purposes only ; for official traveling expenses, including examination of estimates for appropriations in the field for any bureau, office, or service of the Department ; and for other miscellaneous supplies and expenses not otherwise provided for and necessary for the practical and efficient work of the Department, which are authorized by such officer as the Secretary may designate, $10 5,750, toge ther w ith n ot to excee d $10 ,000 of the unex pended bal- ance of the appropriation for these purposes for the fiscal year 1937 : Provided, That this appropriation shall be available for the payment of salaries of employees engaged in the maintenance, repair, and operation of motor transport vehicles, and that this appropriation shall be reimbursed from the appropriation made for any bureau or office for which such service is performed, in accordance with the pro- visions of the Act of May 11, 1922 (U. S . C., title 5, sec . 543) Provided further, That the Secretary of Agriculture, during the fiscal year for which this appropriation is made, may maintain stocks of stationery, supplies, equipment, and miscellaneous mate- rials sufficient to meet, in whole or in part, requirements of the bureaus and offices of the Department in the city of Washington and elsewhere, but not to exceed in the aggregate $200,000 in value at the close of th e fiscal ye ar, and the appropriat ions of suc h bureaus, offices, and agencies available for the purchase of statio nery, su ppli es, equ ipme nt, and mi scel lan eous materials shall be avail- able t o reimbur se the app ropriatio n for mis cell aneo us expe nse s current at the time supplies are allotted, assigned, or issued
