To authorize the acquisition by the United States of certain tribally owned lands [Public, No . 321]

of the Indians of the Shoshone or Wind River Indian Reservation, Wyoming, for the Wind River irrigation project . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Unite d Stat es o f Ameri ca in Congre ss asse mbled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized to acquire on behalf of the United States for the use and benefit of the Wind River Indian irrigation project, Shoshone Indian Reservation, Wyoming, at the appraised value thereof, the east half southeast quarter section 8; the east half northeast quarter and northwest quarter southeast quarter section 17; the north half north half northeast quarter sec- tion 20; and the north half northwest quarter northwest quarter section 21, all in township 1 south, range 2 west, Wind River Me- ridian, Wyoming, and not to exceed $650 of the allotment made by the Federal Emerg ency Administration of Public Works to t he Indian Service for Federal project 266-Indian, may be used for this purpose . The amount herein authorized shall be deposited to the credit of the Indians of the Shoshone Reservation as proceeds of labor, Shoshone and Arapahoe Indians, Wyoming, and shall be sub- ject to expenditure pursuant to the provisions of existing laws Provided, That such deposit of funds shall operate as a full, com- plete, and perfect extinguishment of all right, title, and interest the Indians may possess in and to the land herein described . United States assumes police jurisdiction over the lands embraced within the Shenan doah Natio nal Park, and for ot her purpos es . Be it enacted b y the Senate and House of Representatives of the United State s o f Americ a in C ongres s assem bled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and is hereby, directed to give notice to the State of Virginia through its Governor, as contemplated by the Act of the General Assembly of the State of Virginia approved March 28, 1928, that the United States assumes police jurisdiction over lands lying in the State of Virginia and included within the Shenandoah National Park, title to and exclusive jurisdiction over said lands hav- ing been conveyed and ceded u nder and by authority of said Act and accepted by the Secretary of the Interior, saving, however, to the State of Virginia the right to serve civil or criminal process within the limits of the aforesaid park in suits or prosecutions for or on account of rights acquired, obligations incurred, or crimes committed in said State outside of said park; and saving further to the said State the right to tax persons and corporations, their franchises and property on the lands included in said park; and saving also to the persons residing in said park now, or hereafter, the right to vote at all elections held within the county or counties in which said park is situated; and saving further to the said State the right to tax sales of gasoline and other motor vehicle fuels and oil for use in motor vehicles . The Secretary is further directed to give like notice as to lands hereafter conveyed to the United States under like a uthori ty at such t ime or times as he shall deter- mine to be consistent with the interests of the United States .
