Fruit insects: For insects affecting fruits, grapes, and nuts, $424,600. Japanese beetle control: For the control and prevention of spread of the Japanese beetle, $425,000. Sweetpotato weevil control: For the determination and application of such methods of control for sweetpotato weevils as, in the judg- ment of the Secretary of Agriculture, may be necessary, $70,000: Provided, That in the discretion of the Secretary of Agriculture, Po no part of this appropriation shall be expended for the control of sweetpotato weevil in any State until such State has provided cooperation necessary to accomplish this purpose: Provided further, That no part of this appropriation shall be used to pay the cost or value of farm animals, farm crops, or other property injured or destroyed. Mexican fruitfly control: For the control and prevention of spread of the Mexican fruitfly, including necessary surveys and control operations in Mexico in cooperation with the Mexican Government or local Mexican authorities, $167,960. Citrus canker eradication: For determining and applying such methods of eradication or control of the disease of citrus trees known as "citrus canker" as in the judgment of the Secretary of Agriculture may be necessary, including cooperation with such authorities of the States concerned, organizations of growers, or individuals, as he may deem necessary to accomplish such purposes, $13,485: Provided, That Proi.o. no part of the money herein appropriated shall be used to pay the cost or value of trees or other property injured or destroyed. Gypsy and brown-tail moth control: For the control and prevention of spread of the gypsy and brown-tail moths, $375,000. Dutch elm disease eradiation: For determining and applying meth- ods of eradication, control, and prevention of spread of the disease of elm trees known as "Dutch elm disease" and of a virus disease of elm trees prevalent in the Ohio Valley, $350,000, to be immediately available: Provided, That, in the discretion of the Secretary of Agri- Provios culture, no expenditures from this appropriation shall be made for these purposes until a sum or sums at least equal to such expenditures shall have been appropriated, subscribed, or contributed by State, county, or local authorities, or by individuals, or organizations con- cerned: Provided further, That no part of this appropriation shall be used to pay the cost or value of trees or other property injured or destroyed.
