BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS by my authority, the Secretary of State of the United vContinusace of States of America exchanged in Washington on July 31, 1942, with the authorized representative of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics identical notes, constituting an agreement by which the agreement regarding commercial relations between the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics entered into by the Exchange of Notes signed on August 4, 1937,[ 1] and renewed on August 5, 1938,[ 2] August 2, 1939,[ 3] August 6, 1940,[4] and August 2, 1941, [] is continued in force, which notes are word for word as follows: "DEPARTMENT OF STATE WASHINGTON July 31, 1942 "EXCELLENCY: "In accordance with the conversations which have taken place, I UC.Snfirmation by have the honor to confirm on behalf of my Government the agreement which has been reached between the Governments of our respective countries that the agreement regarding commercial relations between the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Repub- lics recorded in the exchange of notes of August 4, 1937, which came into force on August 6, 1937, and which was renewed on August 5, 1938, August 2, 1939, August 6, 1940, and August 2, 1941 shall remain in force until August 6, 1943. It shall continue in force tbere- after, unless superseded by a more comprehensive commercial agree- ment, subject to termination on six months' written notice by either Government.
