July 31, 1942 "EXCELLENCY: "In accordance with the conversations which have taken place, I have the honor to confirm on behalf of my Government the agree- ment which has been reached between the Governments of our respective countries that the agreement regarding commercial re- lations between the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the United States of America recorded in the exchange of notes of August 4, 1937, which came into force on August 6, 1937, and which was renewed on August 5, 1938, August 2, 1939, August 6, 1940, and August 2, 1941 shall remain in force until August 6, 1943. It shall continue in force thereafter, unless superseded by a more compre- hensive commercial agreement, subject to termination on six months' written notice by either Government.
