TREATIES effect primarily in the territory of the State which shall have ap- pointed the consular officer. 2. -Instruments and documents thus executed and copies and translations thereof, when duly authenticated by the consular officer, under his official seal, shall be received as evidence in the territories of either State, as original documents or authenti- cated copies, as the case may be, and shall have the same force and effect as if drawn up or executed before a notary or other public officer duly authorized in the State by which the consular officer was appointed; provided, always, that such documents shall have been drawn and executed in con- formity to the laws and regula- tions of the State where they are designed to take effect. ARTICLE VIII. 1.-In case of the death of a national of either High Contract- ing Party in the territory of the other High Contracting Party, without having in the locality of his decease any known heirs or testamentary executors by him appointed, the competent local authorities shall at once inform the nearest consular officer of the State of which the deceased was a national of the fact of his death, in order that necessary informa- tion may be forwarded to the persons interested. 2.-In case of the death of a national of either High Contract- ing Party in the territory of the other High Contracting Party, efectos juridicos, prinzipalmente en el territorio del Estado que hubiere nombrado al funcionario consular. 2.-Los instrumentos y docu- mentos asi otorgados, y las copias y traducciones de los mismos, una vez debidamente legalizados por el funcionario consular, bajo su sello oficial, seran recibidos como prueba en los territorios de cual- quiera de los dos Estados, como documentos originales o copias legalizadas, segdn sea el caso, y tendran la misma fuerza y surti- ran los mismos efectos que si hubieren sido extendidos u otor- gados ante un notario u otro funcionario publico debidamente autorizado en el Estado por el cual fu6 nombrado el funcionario consular; a condici6n en todo caso, de que tales documentos hayan sido extendidos u otorga- dos de acuerdo con las Leyes y Reglamentos del Estado en donde habran de surtir sus efectos. ARTICULO VIII. 1.- En caso de fallecimiento de algun nacional de cualquiera de las dos Altas Partes Contratantes en el territorio de la otra Alta Parte Contratante, sin que haya en el lugar de su fallecimiento herederos conocidos ni albaceas testamentarios por el nombrados, las autoridades locales compe- tentes comunicaran inmediata- mente el hecho de su fallecimiento al funcionario consular mas cer- cano del Estado del que el finado fuera nacional, con el objeto de que se envien los informes necesa- rios a los interesados. 2. -En caso de fallecimiento de algun nacional de cualquiera de las dos Altas Partes Contratantes en el territorio de la otra Alta e9taItes [57 STAT.
