PRIVATE LAWS-CHS. 168-170-JUNE 26, 1943 of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Viola Dale, of Superior, Arizona, the sum of $1,500, in full satisfaction of all claims against the United States for compensation for personal injuries sustained and medical expenses incurred by her as a result of a collision of the automobile in which she was riding as a passenger and a Forest Service truck which occurred on the Klamath River Road, Siskiyou County, California, on March 19, 1941: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved June 26, 1943. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Mary Frances Hutson, of La Junta, Colorado, the sum of $2,245.90 in full satisfaction of her claim against the United States for compensation for personal injuries sustained, and reimbursement of medical and hospital expenses incurred, by her as a result of her having been hit by a bullet from a revolver fired during an altercation between two soldiers which occurred in La Junta, Colorado, on December 13, 1941: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the con- trary notwithstanding. [CHAPTER 170] AN ACT Conferring jurisdiction upon the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina to hear, determine, and render judgment upon the claim of Etta Houser Freeman. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That jurisdiction is hereby conferred upon the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina to hear, determine, and render judgment, as if the United States were suable in tort, upon the claim of Etta Houser Freeman, of Dobson, North Carolina, for the death of her husband, L. W . Freeman, who was killed January 29, 1938, near Dobson, North Carolina, when the automobile which he was driving was struck by a Civilian Conservation Corps truck operated by one Paul J. Flynn: Provided, That the judgment, if any, shall not exceed a total sum of $5,000. 678
