AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE RE- PUBLIC OF PERU In conformity with the request of the Government of the Republic of Peru to the Government of the United States of America, the President of the United States of America has authorized the ap- pointment of officers and enlisted men of the United States Army to constitute a Military Mission to the Republic of Peru under the conditions specified below: TITLE I Purpose and Duration ARTICLE 1. The purpose of this Mission is to cooperate with the Minister of War of the Republic of Peru and with the officers of the Peruvian Army with a view to enhancing the efficiency of the Peruvian Army. ARTICLE 2. This Mission shall continue for a period of four years from the date of the signing of this Agreement by the accredited rep- resentatives of the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Republic of Peru unless previously terminated or extended as hereinafter pro- vided. Any member of the Mis- sion may be recalled by the Gov- ernment of the United States of America after the expiration of two years of service, in which case ACUERDO ENTRE EL GOBIERNO DE LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DE AMERICA Y EL GOBIERNO DE LA REPOBLICA DEL PER(T De conformidad con la solicitud del Gobierno de la Repdblica del Perd al Gobierno de los Estados Unidos de America, el Presidente de los Estados Unidos de America ha autorizado el nombramiento de oficiales y personal subalterno del Ejercito de los Estados Unidos de America para constituir una Mi- si6n Militar a la Republica del Perd de acuerdo con las condi- ciones estipuladas a continuaci6n: TfT'mo I Proposito y Duraci6n ARTfCULO 1. El prop6sito de esta Misi6n es cooperar con el Ministro do Guerra de la Re- pfiblica del Perd y con los oficiales del Ej6rcito peruano con el fin de aumentar la eficiencia del Ejercito peruano. ARTfCULO 2. Esta Misi6n du- rar& cuatro afos a partir de la fecha de la firma de este Acuerdo por los representantes acreditados del Gobierno de los Estados Uni- dos de America y del Gobierno de la Repdblica del Perd, a menos que se de por terminado antes o se pro- rrogue segin se provee mas ade- lante.
