CVIII.—-»An Act supplementary to " dn act to incorporate the Trustees of ’;"";" the Female Orphan Asylum of Georgetown, and the Washington City Asylum, lm °h- 8**- in me one-nz of ct1ambm.·· Be it enacted, &e., That the Directresses and Managers of the Fe- Directressosto male Orphan Asylum of Georgetown, in the District of Columbia, shall ha? §L°l° °°¤‘ have sole power, direction, management, and control, in all matters conu° ’ °‘ coming the government, rule, order, direction, and management of the p,,w,,,.,,&,c_,,; affairs of the said asylum; but nothing herein contained shall be contrqstces notim- strued as abrogating or impairing the duties or powers vested in the l’““°d· trustees by the act of incorporation, with the exception of the appointment and fixing the compensation of all officers immediately attached to the asylum and the internal police and regulation of the same, which shall be under the immediate control of the directresses and managers. And be it further enacted, That any destitute child or chilcbildren. dren may, with the consent and approbation of the parent, guardian, or friends, who may have the care of any such child or children, or where a child may be destitute of any friend or protector, be received into the said asylum under such regulations as may be made by the by-laws thereof§ and there protected, instructed, and supported; and they shall not be thereafter withdrawn, or be at liberty themselves to withdraw from the asylum, without the consent or dismissal of the said directresses and managers, or a majority of them, until the attainment of the age of eighteen; but up to said ago they shall remain subject to the direction Pgwqym bind of the said board, unless exonerated as aforesaid; and the said board ¤¤t- shall have power to bind out any child under their care, for the age aforesaid, for the purpose of acquiring a knowledge of some useful trade, occupation, or profession, under such conditions as may be determined on, and whic shall be expressed in an indenture to be signed by the first and second direetresses, on behalf of said institution, and the person to whom bound, and recorded in the Orphans’ Court of Washington county, district aforesaid, within thirty days after the execution thereof M¤¤¤8¤1’¤»&·<>· Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That, instead of ten managers, as heretofore provided, there shall be twelve, to be elected at the next annual election, and so to be continued forever thereafter; and instead of the mode of appointing the Treasurer and Secretary of said asylum, heretofore used, said officers shall henceforth be elected at the time and place, and in the same manner, by the contributors, that the managers have been, or shall hereafter be, elected.
