Lamar to import "_""*—·· free of duties iron steamboats suited to t/re navigation of rivers. Be it enacted, dw., That Charles Day, William W. Frye, George Whitman of the state of Alabama, Laurent Millandon of New Orleans, C¤¤¤i{¤ P€T50¤¤ and James R,. Butts be, and each of them are hereby, authorized to import, f;'l;‘;:‘f§';,;° free of duty, the materials ready prepared for an iron boat, to be em- ml; for an i},,,, ployed as a steamboat, withthe tools and implements necessary to construct ¤¤¤¤mb<>¤¤, {mc and put together the same, and to make them complete, so far as any °fd°°y‘ tools or implements peculiar to this service or the navigation and repair _ of such boats are necessary; but this act shall not be so construed as n§;€$:lu°;l:§"°’ to authorize the importation of steam engines. ` Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That Gassaway B. CCLVI.-An Act to refund certain duties upon railroad iron, paid by the July 7, 1333, Lew York and Harlaem Railroad Company. —··—;·· Be it enacted, qc., That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, directed to pay to the president of the New York and Harlaem Dudes on rail- Railroad Company, for the use of the said Company, out of any money ‘° b° in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of nine hundred ' and five dollars and sixty-three cents, that being the sum paid by the said company, to the collector of the port of New York, as the duty upon six hundred and ninety-two bars or rails of iron, imported by them for the use of their railroad, on the thirteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-three, and, in consequence of unforeseen and unanticipated obstacles to the construction of the said road, not actually laid down thereupon until after the thirteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-six, so as to entitle them to an exemption from duty under the act of the fourteenth of July, one thou· Act of July 14, sand eight hundred and thirty-two. 1832* °h‘ 250' Approved, July 7, 1838.
