Be it enacted, rfc., That all further proceedings in a certain judgpmcccdgngs ment, for the United States of America, against Walter Jones, rendered in a certain at May term, eighteen hundred and thirty, in the circuit court of the ·l“d€"‘:",;F t District of Columbia for the county of Washington, be suspended; and zgzgzpeéwedf that the proper accounting officers of the treasury department be, and Gu:. they are hereby, authorized and directed to adjust and settle .the accounts and claims between the United States and the said Walter Jones upon principles of equity and justice; and if} upon such settlement, it shall appear that the United States are indebted to the said Jones in a sum over and above the` amount of said judgment, it shall be the duty of the district attorney of the United States for the District of Columbia to enter said judgment satisfied; and the balance due to said Jones shall be paid to him out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated: Provided, however, That said settlement shall be made within twelve months from the date thereof Avmovmn, March 3, 1839.
