COURTS District of Columbia courts: For expenses of the following District of Columbia courts, including witness fees and compensation of jurors; lodging and meals for jurors, bailiffs, and deputy United States marshals while in attendance upon jurors, when ordered by the courts; and meals for prisoners: Juvenile court, $257,600, of which $556 shall be available for deposit in the Treasury for penalty mail (39 U. S. C . 321d), and of which $15,000 shall be available for payment to the United States Public Health Service for furnishing psychiatric service, including the detail of necessary medical and other personnel: Provided, That the disbursing officer of the District of Columbia is authorized to advance to the chief probation officer of the juvenile court upon requisition previously approved by the judge of the juvenile court and the auditor of the District of Columbia, not to exceed $50 at any one time, to be expended for travel expenses to secure the return of absconding probationers. Municipal court, including pay of retired judges and $800 for deposit in the Treasury for penalty mail (39 U. S . C . 321d), $484,600: Provided, That deposits made on demands for jury trials in accord- ance with rules prescribed by the court under authority granted in section 11 of the Act approved March 3, 1921 (41 Stat. 1312), shall be earned unless, prior to three days before the time set for such trials, including Sundays and legal holidays, a new date for trial be set by the court, cases be discontinued or settled, or demands for jury trials be waived. Municipal court of appeals, $75,200 of which $300 shall be available for deposit in the Treasury for penalty mail (39 U. S . C . 321d). United States courts: For reimbursement to the United States for services rendered to the District of Columbia by the Judiciary and the Department of Justice as specified under the head "United States courts for the )istrict of Columbia" in the Judiciary Appropriation Act, 1949, and in the Department of Justice Appropriation Act, 1949, $934,000. Probation system: For expenses necessary for the probation system, including $150 for deposit in the Treasury for penalty mail (39 U. S . C . 321d), $51,600. Office of Register of Wills: For expenses necessary for the Office of Register of Wills, including $700 for deposit in the Treasury for penalty mail (39 U. S . C. 321d); and contract statistical services, $143,000. Commission on Mental Health: For expenses necessary for the Commission on Mental Health, including an executive secretary at $4,150 per annum and physician-members at $5,153 per annum, $39,700, of which $1,000 shall be available for the payment of fees to attorneys appointed in accordance with the Act of June 8, 1938 (52 Stat. 625), not exceeding $25 in any one case.
