I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated this day, the text of which, having been duly translated into Spanish, reads as follows: Ante, p. 2062. "In connection with the Accord signed today, it is our understand- ing that in the expropriation or allotment of assets subject to ex- propriation, the interests, whether direct or indirect, of non-German foreign nationals will be protected to the same extent as those of Spanish nationals, on condition of reciprocal treatment in the country of those foreign nationals."
