SALARIES OF REFEREES

For an additional amount for "Salaries of referees", $134,000: Provided, That said appropriation shall be available for payment of the salaries of referees at the increased rates authorized by the Judicial Conference of the United States in September 1952, effective as of October 1, 1952. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE The Attorney General is hereby authorized to transfer from appropriations contained in the Department of Justice Appropriation Act, 1953, not to exceed $270,000 to the appropriation "Fees and expenses of witnesses, Justice", 1953, and not to exceed $600,000 to the appropriation "Support of United States prisoners, Federal prison system", 1953.
