C H A P T E R 119

Be it PMaeted by the Senate and Iloui^e of Representatives of the United States of Awerica in Cong)e><.s assemhJed, That the Secretary of the Treasury may make the following expenditures: (a) Expenditures for arms and anniiunition required by civilian employees of the Department of the Treasury in the performance of their official duties, (b) Expenditures to reimburse Federal Keserve banks and branches for necessary expenses for services performed as Government depositaries and as fiscal agents of the United States. (c) Expenditures not to exceed $10,000 per annum for services or information looking toward the apprehension of narcotic law violators Avho are fugitives from justice. SEC. 2. The Secretary of the Treasury is authorized to accept services M'ithout compensation in connection with the program for the sale of United States public-debt obligations. SEC. 3. Section 10 of the Second Liberty Bond Act, as amended (40 Stat. 292; U. S.'C, title 31, sec. 7(>0), is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sentence: "During any period for which a definite appropriation has been made for expenses for which this section makes an indefinite appropriation, the definite appropriation shall be available under the terms of this section and the indefinite appropriation shall not be available for obligation.*'. AN ACT To amend the Act of.January 12, 1951, as amended, to continue in effect the provisions of title II of the First War Powers Act, 1941.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That section 2 of the Act of January 12, 1951 (64 Stat. 1257), as amended, is further amended by striking out "1955" and inserting in lieu thereof "1957". JOINT RESOLUTION To provide for the reappointment of Doctor Jerome C. H'under as Citizen Regent of the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the vacancy in the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution, of the class other than Members of Congress, which will occur by the expiration of the term of Doctor Jerome C. Hunsaker, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, on April 7, 1955, be filled by the reappointment of the present incumbent for the statutory term of six years. Approved June 3, 1955.
