A57 CHAPTER 300
AN ACT To anthoiize the sale of certain land in Alaska to the Pacific Northern Timber Company. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Pacific Northern Timber Company, an Ahiska corporation, is hereby anthorized for a period of one year from and after the effective chite of this Act to apply for the purchase of, and the Secretary of the Interior is hereby authorized and directed to convey to the said Pacific Northern Timber Company, the following described land situated in Alaska: That strip of tidelands in Zimovia Strait approximately six miles south of AVrangell, Territory of Alaska, containing approximately forty-five acres more or less and lying between mean high water and mean low water and abutting upon the land included in United States survey 3000, and lot 10, public service site, lot 11, lot 12, lot 13, and lot 14 of United States survey 2589, and more particularly described as follows: Beginning at meander corner numbered 1 of lot 14 of United States survey 2589 and extending along a line south 86 degrees 30 minutes west approximately 8 chains to the mean low water line of Zimovia Strait; thence following the mean low water line in a southerly direction to a point where it intersects with a line extending north 72 degrees 10 minutes west from meander corner numbered 1 of United States survey 3000; thence south 72 degrees 10 minutes east along such line approximately 9.1 chains to said meander corner numbered 1 of United States survey 3000; thence northerly along the mean high water mark or the Zimovia Strait boundary of the property shown on the plats of United States survey 3000 and United States survey 2589 to the point of beginning: Provided, That the Secretary of the Interior shall convey only that portion of the above-described property which is abutting upland property owned by the purchaser. SEC. 2. That the land shall be sold to the said Pacific Northern Timber Company at a reasonable appraised price to be fixed by the Secretary of the Interior, plus the cost of survey and preparation of a plat of survey. Conveyance shall be made only if the said Pacific Northern Timber Company makes the total payment due within one year after notification by the Secretary of the Interior of the amount due: Provided, That the coal, oil, and other mineral deposits in the land shall be reserved to the United States, together with the right to prospect for, mine, and remove the same under applicable laws and regulations to be prescribed by the Secretary of the Interior. CHAPTER 307 AN ACT For the relief of Engenio Maida
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled. That, notwithstanding the provision of section 212(a)(9) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, Eugenio Maida may be admitted to the United States for permanent residence if he is found to be otherwise admissible under
