C O N T I N U I N G F U N D, S O U T H W E S T E R N POWER ADMINISTRATION

Not to exceed $6,400,000 shall be available during the current fiscal j'ear from the continuing fund for all costs in connection with the purchase of electric power and energy, and rentals for the use of transmission facilities. BONNEVILLE POWER ADMINISTRATION CONSTRUCTION

For construction and acquisition of transmission lines, substations, and appurtenant facilities, as authorized by law, to remain available until expended, $18,700,000. OPERATION A N D M A I N T E N A N C E

For necessary expenses of operation and maintenance of the Bonneville transmission system and of marketing electric power and energy, $7,400,000. ADMINISTRATIVE PROVISIONS

Appropriations of the Bonneville Power Administration shall be available to carry out all the duties imposed upon the Administrator pursuant to law, including purchase of not to exceed thirty-two passenger motor vehicles for replacement only. Appropriations made herein to the Bonneville Power Administration shall be available in one fund, except that the appropriation herein made for operation and maintenance shall be available only for the service of the current fiscal year. Other than as may be necessary to meet local emergencies, not to exceed 12 per centum of the appropriation for construction herein made for the Bonneville Power Administration shall be available for construction work by force account or on a hired-labor basis. BUREAU OF RECLAMATION

For carrying out the functions of the Bureau of Reclamation as provided in the Federal reclamation laws (Act of June 17, 1902, 32 Stat. 388, and Acts amendatory thereof or supplementary thereto) and other Acts applicable to that Bureau, as follows: GENERAL INVESTIGATIONS

For engineering and economic investigations of proposed Federal reclamation projects and studies of water conservation and development plans; formulating plans and preparing designs and specifications for authorized Federal reclamation projects or parts thereof prior to initial allocation of appropriations for construction of such )rojects or part s; and activities preliminary to the reconstruction, relabilitation and betterment, financial adjustment, or extension of existing projects; to remain available until expended, $5,680,000 of which $4,970,000 shall be derived from the reclamation fund and $500,000 shall be derived from the Colorado River development fund: Provided, That none of this appropriation shall be used for more than one-half of the cost of an investigation requested by a State, municipality, or other interest.
