SEC. 2. Suit upon such claims may be instituted hereunder not later than six months after the date of enactment of this Act: Provided, howevery That nothing contained in this Act shall be construed as an inference of liability on the part of the United States Government. Approved August 21, 1957.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Ge United States of America in Congress OMsembled, That the Comp-nold. o r g e troller General of the United States be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to relieve George W. Arnold, an employee of the Treasury Department, of all liability to refund to the United States the sum of $1,101.09. Such sum represents the excess cost of shipping from Boston, Massachusetts, to Paris, France, his personal and household effects over that authorized by Executive Order Numbered 9805. Approved August 21, 1957.

Private Law 85-178 AN ACT For the relief of Robert D. Miller, of Juneau, Alaska.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury is hereby authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Robert D. Miller, of Juneau, Alaska, the sum of $132.45, in full settlement of all claims against the Government of the United States as reimbursement for personal effects lost on December 14, 1954, in the sinking of a United States Coast Guard aircraft near Haines, Alaska, while employed by and on actual duty with the Department of Justice as deputy United States Marshal for the First Judicial Division of Alaska: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act shall be paid or delivered to or received by any a^ent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved August 21, 1957.
