AN ACT For the relief of Bernard Barrett.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United /States of America in CongreHH oMsembled, That Bernard Barrett (Army service number O567205) of Campbell, California, is hereby relieved of liability to the United States in the amount of $17,365.16. Such sum represents the amount received by him as retired pay in good faith and without knowledge of any violation of the law, in excess of the limitation imposed by section 212 of the Act entitled "An Act making appropriations for the legislative branch of the Government for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1933, and for other purposes'", approved June 30, 1932 (5 U.S.C. 59a), while he was employed at the Ames Aeronautical Laboratory during the period from December 5, 1944, to August 3, 1955, inclusive. In the audit and settlement of the accounts of any certifying or disbursing officer of the United States, credit shall be given for any amount for which liability is relieved by this Act. SEC. 2. The Secretary of the Treasury is hereby authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Bernard Barrett, an amount equal to the aggregate of the amounts paid by him or withheld from sums otherwise due him, in complete or partial satisfaction of the claim of the United States for refund of the amount for which Bernard Barrett is relieved of liability to repay under the first section of this Act: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved September 21, 1959.

AN ACT For the relief of Giuseppa Ferrante (Sister Candida).

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That, for the purposes of the Immigration and Nationality Act, Giuseppa Ferrante (Sister Candida) shall be held and considered to have been lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence as of the date of the enactment of this Act, upon payment of the required visa fee.
