LAND ACQUISITION, NATIONAL CAPITAL PARK, PARKWAY, A N D PLAYGROUND SYSTEM

For necessary expenses for the National Capital Planning Commission for acquisition of land for the park, parkway, and playground system of the National Capital, as authorized by the Act of May 29, 1930 (46 Stat. 482), as amended, to remain available until „ ^ ^; ^ code 8-102 expended, $500,000 which shall be available for the purpose of section 1(a) of said Act of May 29, 1930, for the purchase of approximately 416 acres of parkland in Prince Georges County, Maryland, consisting of the Fort Foote extension to the Smoot Bay area; the Harmony Hall Historic area between the Indian Queen Estates and Broaawater Estates sub-divisions; and the extension of Fort Washington to Swan Creek: Provided, That none of the funds shall be available for acquiring without the consent of the owner any improved property which shall be defined to mean a detached, one-iamily dwelling together with at least three acres of the land on which the dwelling is situated, or all of such lesser amount as may be held in same ownership as the dwelling: Provided further, That none of the funds Srovided under the National P a r k Service item "Construction (liquiation of contract authorization)" shall be expended for planning or construction of the extension of the George VTashington Memorial Parkway in Prince Georges County, Maryland: Provided, That not exceeding $50,000 of the ninds available for land acquisition purposes shall be used during the current fiscal year for necessary expenses of the Commission (other than payments for land) in connection with land acquisition. NATIONAL CAPITAL TILVNSPORTATION AGENCY SALARIES AND EXPENSES

For expenses necessary to carry out the provisions of title II of the Act of July 14, 1960 (74 Stat. 537), including payment in advance for membership in societies whose publications or services are available to members only or to members at a price lower than to the general public; hire of passenger motor vehicles; and uniforms or .allowances therefor, as authorized by law (5 U.S.C. 2131); $875,000.

OUTDOOR RECREATION RESOURCES REVIEW COMMISSION SALARIES AND EXPENSES

For expenses necessary to complete carrying out the provisions of the Act of June 28, 1958, as amended (72 Stat. 238; 73 Stat. 14), including services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 1946 (5 U.S.C. 55a), $550,000, to remain available until expended. SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION SALARIES AND EXPENSES

For all necessary expenses for the preservation, exhibition, and increase of collections from the surveying and exploring expeditions of the Government and from other sources; for the system of international exchanges between the United States and foreign countries; for anthropological researches among the American Indians and the natives of lands under the jurisdiction or protection of the United States, independently or in cooperation with State, educational, and scientific organizations in the United States, and the excavation and preservation of archeological remains; for maintenance of the Astrophysical Observatory and making necessary observations in high altitudes; for the administration of the National Collection of Fine A r t s;
