For carrying out the functions of the Public Health Service, not otherwise provided for, under the Act of August 8, 1946 (5 U.S.C. 150), including $2,422,000 to be available only for payments for eo Stat. 903. medical care of dependents and retired personnel under the Dependents' Medical Care Act (37 U.S.C. chap. 7) and under sections ^o ^*^*- " o. 321, 322, 324, 326, 331, 332, 341, 343, 344, 502, and 504 of the Act, 42 USC 24 8 et section 810 of the Act of July 1, 1944, as amended (33 U.S.C. 763c), ^^'^' Private Law 419 of the Eighty-third Congress, as amended, and ^^^^ ^^^*- ^'^^ ^^ Executive Order 9079 of February 26, 1942, including purchase and 3CFRi943Cum. exchange of farm products and livestock; purchase of not to exceed ^"PP" P- '^*'^three passenger motor vehicles for replacement only; and purchase of firearms and ammunition; $49,835,000, of which $1,200,000 shall be available only for payments to the State of Hawaii for care and treatment of persons afflicted with leprosy: Provided, That when the Public Health Service establishes or operates a health service program for any department or agency payment for the estimated cost shall be made in advance for deposit to the credit of this appropriation: Provided further, That this appropriation shall be available for medical, surgical, and dental treatment and hospitalization of retired ships' officers and members of crews of Coast and Geodetic Survey vessels, and their dependents, and for payment therefor: Provided further, That the limitation under the head "Hospitals and medical ^^ ^*^*- ^®^care" in the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare Appropriation Act, 1959, on the amount available for payments for medical care of dependents and retired personnel under the Dependents' Medical Care Act (37 U.S.C. chap. 7) is increased from "$1,866,000" to "$1,880,000". ACTIVITIES

For carrying out the purposes of sections 361 to 369 of the Act, relating to preventing the introduction of communicable diseases from foreign countries, the medical examination of aliens in accordance with section 325 of the Act, and the care and treatment of quarantine detainees pursuant to section 322(e) of the Act in private or other public hospitals when facilities of the Public Health Service are not available, including insurance of official motor vehicles in foreign countries when required by law of such countries, $6,084,000, of which $734,000 shall be available for construction of wharf facilities at the Rosebank Quarantine Station.
