(c) There is authorized to be appropriated to the Secretary of Transportation, without fiscal year limitation, not to exceed $1,047,044,000 to carry out the purposes of this section. The appropriations authorized by this subsection shall be in addition to the appropriations authorized by section 5(a)(1) of the National Capital Transportation Act of 1965. CONTRIBUTIONS

SEC. 4. (a) To provide the District of Columbia share of the cost of the Adopted Regional System, the Commissioner of the District of Columbia is authorized to contract with the Transit Authority to make annual capital contributions aggregating not to exceed $216,500,000. To carry out the purposes of this section there is authorized to be appropriated out of the general fund of the District of Columbia, without fiscal year limitation, not to exceed $166,500,000. (b) The last sentence of paragraph (3) of subsection (b) of the first section of the Act of June 6, 1958 (D.C. Code, sec. 9-220(b)(3)), ^^ ^tat. 340. is amended by striking out "$50,000,000 of the principal amount of the loans authorized to be made to the Commissioners under this subsection shall be utilized to carry out the purposes of the National Capital Transportation Act of 1965 (D.C. Code, sees, 1-1404, 1-1421—1-1426); and"' and inserting in lieu thereof "$216,500,000 goltal*' ^ " ' of the principal amount of the loans authorized to be made to the

To such extent, not exceeding $166,500,000, as may be necessary for this purpose, the District of Columbia may exceed the limitation on aggregate indebtedness established pursuant to this subsection." (c) The appropriations authorized by subsection (a) of this section shall be in addition to the appropriations authorized.on behalf of the District of Columbia by section 5(a)(2) of the National Capital Transportation Act of 1965.
