Public Law 91-382 AN ACT Making appropriations for the Legislative Branch for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1971, and for other purposes.

Be It enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United /States of America in Congress assembled, That the following sums are appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the Legislative Branch for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1971, and for other purposes, namely:

For compensation of officers, employees, clerks to Senators, and others as authorized by law, including agency contributions and longevity compensation as authorized, which shall be paid from this appropriation without regard to the below limitations, as follows: OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT

For clerical assistance to the Vice President, $367,203. OFFICE OF THE P R E S I D E N T PRO TEMPORE

For office of the President Pro Tempore, $44,165: Provided, That, elfeclive August 1, 1970, the President Pro Tempore is authorized to appoint a Comptroller of the Senate at a salary of $36,000 per annum, and the Comptroller may appoint a Secretary to the Comptroller at a salary of not to exceed $13,688 per annum, which appointments shall be in lieu of the two appointments authorized by the second proviso contained in the paragraph "Office of the Secretary" under the heading " S E N A T E " in the Legislative Branch Appropriation Act, 1970: Provided further, That the Comptroller of the Senate shall prepare budgets and amendments to the budgets of the Senate and shall audit all financial records of the Senate relating to the expenditure of approl)riated funds. The Comptroller shall have complete access to all information as may be necessary to carry out his budget and auditing duties. 47-348 O - 72 - 55 (Pt. 1)
