of cverpayments of active duty pay received by the said Gary W. Stewart during the period from January 1&()6, through December 1967, as a result of administrative eiror on the part of the United States Marine Corps with respect to monthly allotment for December 1967, sent to Joyce Stewart, wife of said Gary Stewart, representing ov'erpayment of clothing maintenance and leave rations, overpayment ox basic pay and basic allowance for quarters, and rental value of inadequate family qmirters during his active service as a member of the United States Marine Corps and received in good faith on his part. In the audit and settlement of the accounts of any certifying or disbursing officer of the United States, credit shall be given for amounts for which liability is relieved by this section. SEC. 2. (a) The Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to the said Gary W. Stewart an amount equal to the aggregate of the amounts paid by him, or witliheld from sums otherwise due him, with respect to the indebtedness to the United States specified in the first section of this Act. (b) No part of the amount appropriated in this Act shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved December 31, 1970.

For the relief of Richard X. Stanford.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Represeritatires of the United States of America in Congress assembled. That Richard N. Stanford (Chief Warrant Officer, United States Air Force, retired) of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, is relieved of liability to the United States in the amount of $1,921.62, representing the living quarters allowance received by the said Richard N. Stanford as a result of administrative error during the period beginning June 18, 1966, through April 80, 1968, while he was employed by the Department of the Air Force at the Rhein-Main Air Base, Germany. In the audit and settlement of the accounts of any certifying or disbursing officer of the United States credit shall be given for amounts for which liability is relieved by this section. SEC. 2.
