"(9)(A) A child who is a child of an individual under clause (3) Ante, p. 1347. ^ j ^j^^, ^^^ sentence of section 216(e) and is not a child of such individual under clause (1) or (2) of such first sentence shall be deemed not to be dependent on such individual at the time specified in sub42 USC 416. paragraph (1)(C) of this subsection unless (i) such child was living with such individual in the United States and receiving at least onehalf of his support from such individual (I) for the year immediately before the month in which such individual became entitled to old-age insurance benefits or disability insurance benefits or died, or ( II) if such individual had a period of disability which continued until he had become entitled to old-age insurance benefits, or disability insurance benefits, or died, for the year immediately before the month in which such period of disability began, and (ii) the period during which such child was living with such individual began before the child attained age 18. " (B) I n the case of a child who was born in the one-year period during which such child must have been living with and receiving at least one-half of his support from such individual, such child shall be deemed to meet such requirements for such period if, as of the close of such period, such child has lived with such individual i^ the United States and received at least one-half of his support from such individual for substantially all of the period which begins on the date of such child's birth." ^ ^ ^ - 1 ^ ^ - (^) Section 202(b)(1) of the Social Security Act is further amended— (1) by adding "and" at the end of subparagraph (C), Vi? '.! ^, (2^ by striking out subparagraph (D), and (3) by redesignating subparagraphs (E) through (L) as subparagraphs (D) through (K), respectively, (b)(1) Section 202(e)(1) of such Act (as amended by section 102 Ante, p. 1335. (a) of this Act) is further amended— (A) by adding "and" at the end of subparagraph (C), (B) by striking out subparagraph (D), and (C) by redesignating subparagraphs (E) through (G) as subparagraphs (D) through (F),respectively. Post ^*^*is^^o' (^^ Section 202 (e]) (6) of such Act is amended by striking out "para°^ ' ^' ' graph (1)(G) " and inserting in lieu thereof "paragraph (1)(F) ". 79 Stat. 378. (c) Section 202(g)(1)(F) of such Act is amended by striking out clause (i), and by redesignating clauses (ii) and (iii) as clauses (i) and (ii), respectively. Effective date. (d) The amendments made by this section shall apply only with respect to benefits payable under title II of the Social Security Act for months after December 1972 on the basis of applications filed on or after the date of enactment of this Act. (e) Where— (1) one or more persons are entitled (without the application r2°usc'423^^' ^^ sections 202(j)(1) and 223(b) of the Social Security Act) to monthly benefits under section 202 or 223 of such Act for December 1972 on the basis of the wages and self-employment income of an insured individual, and
