(5) There are authorized to be appropriated $8,000,000 for fiscal year 1976 for payments under grants under this subsection. (b)(1) The Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare may make grants to public and nonprofit private entities to assist them in demonstrating the training of professional and paraprofessional personnel to provide home health services (as defined in section 1861(m) of the Social Security Act). (2) Applications for grants under this subsection shall be in such form and contain such information as the Secretary shall by regulations, prescribe. COMMITTEE ON MENTAL H E A L T H AND ILLNESS OF THE EIJJERLY
SEC. 603. (a) The Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare Appointment. shall appoint a Committee on Mental Health and Illness of the Elderly 42 USC 289k-2 (hereinafter in this section referred to as the "Committee") to make note. a study of and recommendations respecting— (1) the future needs for mental health facilities, manpower, research, and training to meet the mental health care needs of elderly persons, (2) the appropriate care of elderly persons who are in mental institutions or who have been discharged from such institutions, and (3) proposals for implementing the recommendations of the 1971 White House Conference on Aging respecting the mental health of the elderly. (b) Within one year from the date of enactment of this Act the Report to Secretary shall report to the Committee on Labor and Public Welfare congressional of the Senate and the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce committees. of the House of Representatives the findings of the Committee under the study under subsection (a) and the Committee's recommendations under such subsection.
