SEC. 13. Notwithstanding any other provision of this or any other 42 USC 1882. Act, the Director of the National Science Foundation shall keep the Committee on Science and Technology of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Human Resources of the Senate fully and currently informed with respect to all of the activities of the National Science Foundation. SEC. 14. (a) Section 3(e) of the National Science Foundation Act of 1950 (42 U.S.C. 1862(e)) is amended by striking out "one of the objectives" and inserting in lieu thereof "an objective". (b) Section 4 of such Act (42 U.S.C. 1863) is amended by adding at Report to President, the end thereof the following new subsection: "(j) The Board shall render an annual report to the President, for submittal to submission to the Congress on or before March 31 in each year. Such Congress. report shall deal essentially, though not necessarily exclusively, with policy issues or matters which affect the Foundation or with which the Board in its official role as the policymaking body of the Foundation is concerned.". (c) Section 14(d) of such Act (42 U.S.C. 1873(d)) is amended to Compensation. read as follows: "(d) The members of the Board and the members of each special commission shall receive compensation for each day engaged in the business of the Foundation at a rate fixed by the Chairman but not exceeding the rate specified for the daily rate for GS-18 of the General Schedule under section 5332 of title 5, United States Code, and 5 USC 5332 note. shall be allowed travel expenses as authorized by section 5703 of title 5, United States Code.". Approved August 15, 1977.
