SEC. 2. Section 8335(a) of title 5, United States Code, shall not apply 5 USC 8335 note. to an individual appointed as an air traffic controller in the Department of Defense before the date of the enactment of this Act. SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on the later of— Effective date. (1) October 1, 1980, or ^ use 2109 note. (2) the ninetieth day after the date of the enactment of this Act.
