97 STAT. 926 PUBLIC LAW 98-146—NOV. 4, 1983 ties to and from any unit of the National Park System used in connection with organized recreation and interpretive programs of the National Park Service; options for the purchase of land at not to exceed $1 for each option; and for the procurement and delivery of medical services within the jurisdiction of units of the National Park System: Provided, That any funds available to the National Park Service may be used, with the approval of the Secretary, to maintain law and order in emergency and other unforeseen law enforcement situations and conduct emergency search and rescue operations in the National Park System: Provided further, That none of the funds appropriated to the National Park Service may be used to process any grant or contract documents which do not include the text of 18 U.S.C. 1913: Provided further, That none of the funds appropriated to the National Park Service may be used to add industrial facilities to the list of National Historic Landmarks with- out the consent of the owner: Provided further, That the National Park Service may use helicopters and motorized equipment at Death Valley National Monument for removal of feral burros and horses. ENERGY AND MINERALS GEOLOGICAL SURVEY SURVEYS, INVESTIGATIONS, AND RESEARCH For expenses necessary for the Geological Survey to perform surveys, investigations, and research covering topography, geology, and the mineral and water resources of the United States, its Territories and possessions, and other areas as authorized by law (43 U.S.C. 31, 1332 and 1340); classify lands as to their mineral charac- ter and water and power resources; give engineering supervision to power permittees and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission licensees; administer the minerals exploration program (30 U.S.C. 641); and publish and disseminate data relative to the foregoing activities; $367,080,000: Provided, That $49,113,000 shall be available only for cooperation with States or municipalities for water 43 USC 50. resources investigations: Provided further, That no part of this appropriation shall be used to pay more than one-half the cost of any topographic mapping or water resources investigations carried on in cooperation with any State or municipality: Provided further. That the Geological Survey is authorized to accept lands, buildings, equipment, and other contributions from public and private sources and to prosecute projects in cooperation with other agencies, Fed- 43 USC 42a. eral. State, or private: Provided further, That in fiscal year 1984 and thereafter, all receipts from the sale of maps sold or stored by the Geological Survey shall be available for map printing and distribu- tion to supplement funds otherwise available, to remain available until expended. ADMINISTRATIVE PROVISIONS The amount appropriated for the Geological Survey shall be available for purchase of not to exceed 9 passenger motor vehicles, for replacement only; reimbursement to the General Services Administration for security guard services; contracting for the fur- nishing of topographic maps and for the making of geophysical or other specialized surveys when it is administratively determined that such procedures are in the public interest; construction and
