Another incident showing his selflessness may be recorded here. Mr. Cost, a pupil of his, once requested him to compose some Sanskrit poems, which he did offhand. Perfectly satisfied the student offered him a reward of Rs 200. On his suggestion the money was deposited in the Sanskrit College and a prize of Rs 50 was announced to be awarded annually to the best essayist for four successive years. He was appointed examiner.
