Her great-granddaughter's memoir: "Sophia and Oscar had three boys and later on one girl. The boys were Charles, Louis and John and the girl, Eloise, was named by her brother, Charles."
Death of his son. "Charles F. Lindauer, a resident of Rye for thirty years or more, died at his home on Locust Avenue at 3:40 yesterday afternoon. Deceased was in his eighty-eighth year and had been a sufferer from a complication of diseases."
His estate. "Wills admitted - Sarah Lewis, Sarah Jane Barker, John H. Woodgate, Horace F. Farrington, Mary Fanning, James Gillespie, Louis A. Whitaker. Patrick Healy, Mary Wahl, Joseph E. Ebling, Charles Stetnick, Sarah Goodstein, Catherine Corley, Asa Clark and Sheidon Burwell. Letters of administration were granted on the estates of Honora Mahoney, William Melis, August Geiger, Charles McCue, Albert Kruger, William Gates, Louis Gyette, Thomas Johnston, Ludwig Milham, David Patalla, Francis Stewart, William Harp. George A. Harriot, John C. Helff, Oscar Lindauer, Ellen Muihall, John Meehan, David G. Wendell, Brudget McCune, Sopre Miller, George Krang, Anthony I. Robertson."
His estate. "Oscar Lindauer Deceased. To Gideon J. Tucker, Esquire, Surrogate of the County of New York. The Petition of Sophia Lindauer respectfully shows: That your Petitioner is a resident of No. 165 Spring Street in the City of New York and is the widow of the said Oscar Lindauer, deceased … deceased left surviving besides your petitioner children residing in this city viz: Charles - Louis & John Lindauer of full age. Eloise Lindauer, a minor over 14 years of age only next of kin; that said deceased was at or immediately previous to and was his death an inhabitant of the County of New York. Your petitioner therefore prays that Letters of Administration of the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased may be granted to her by the said Surrogate of the County of New York. Sophia Lindauer."
His death. "On Wednesday morning, September 5, Oscar A.M. Lindauer, aged 51 years and 2 months. The relatives and friends of his sons, Charles, Louis, and John Lindauer, also the members of Eastern Star Lodge, No. 227, F. and A. M., are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from 42 Grand Street, this (Friday) afternoon, at two o'clock. The remains to be interred in Cypress Hill Cemetery."
