Presidential Pardon of Charles Frederick Lindauer
Ulysses S. Grant,
President of the United States of America, To all to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting:
Whereas, on the 24th day of May, 1871, in the United States district court for the District of New Jersey, one Charles Lindower was convicted of passing counterfeit money, and was sentenced to be imprisoned for two years, and until the costs of the prosecution should be paid;
And whereas, he having received, a commutation of his sentence for good conduct in prison, his term of service has overly expired;
And, whereas, many highly respectable citizens of New Jersey recommend his freedom;
Now, therefore, be it known, that, I, Ulysses S. Grant, President of the United States of America in consideration of the premises, divers other good and sufficient reasons are Thereunto moving, do hereby grant to the said Charles Lindower a full and unconditional pardon.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto signed my name and caused the seal of the United States to the affixed.
