Samson Agonistes is a drama, although not one intended for the stage, by the 17th-century English poet John Milton. When published in 1671 it was 'added' to Paradise Regain'd.
Lines are numbered every ten lines. There are errors in the placement of these numbers, which have been replicated as per the printed text. This is further aggravated by the addition of the 10 lines as identified in the 'Omissa'. Past line 999, the numbering restarts at 10. As the work is one continuous text, these line numbers have had 1000 added to them (e.g. line 30 becomes line 1030).
