Talk:Bible (King James)/Revelation

Latest comment: 14 years ago by Gmasterman

I've heard a lot of justification of US/Israeli policy towards the Palestinians coming from the Book of Revelations -- people saying that the genocide of Arabs doesn't matter when the second coming is at stake. Is this fringe, or common, in your experience?

The concept of Israel and all that is associated with it is central to Biblical studies. Many people see Israel as the most important key in unravelling Biblical prophecy, and it features to one degree or another in most interpretations of Revelation. But personally (I speak as one who holds theological degrees), I've never heard the book used as a justification for any kind of political policy. If there are people who use (abuse?) Revelation in that way, I'm quite sure they're a fringe group (as the saying goes: "You get all kinds"). --gdm (talk) 20:37, 30 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
