Proofreading edit

The table below compares the Wikisource edition to multiple online sources for proofreading purposes. Changes which are obviously incorrect are not shown; for example, a change from "—" (em dash) to "--" (double-hyphen) will be ignored.

Based on the above comparisons, giving weight to the proofread Gutenberg text from a printed source, I made the following changes to the Wikisource edition:

  • past verb endings '-ed';
  • 04 capitalized 'Earth';
  • 11 'crowned' to 'crownéd';
  • 26 'clenched' to 'clenchéd';
  • 30 capitalized 'World';
  • 37 dot to colon;
  • 39 semicolon to colon;
  • 41 capitalized 'Love';
  • 42 capitalized 'Death';
  • 69 capitalized 'World';
  • 70 no dash;
  • 79 capitalized 'Moon'; comma after 'Moon' and 'mistress'.

Reproofed against Project Gutenberg text edit

There was only Pathoschild mentioned in the Proofreaders row of the {{textinfo}} template above, so I reproofed [1] against the UTF-8 version at Project Gutenberg. The only differences I found were the use of ersatz dashes (-- vs. ) and a few reference and verse number markers in the Gutenberg text, so no changes had to be made.--GrafZahl 12:36, 25 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Asimov's Nightfall edit

The habitations of all things which dwell, Were burnt for beacons; cities were consumed, And men were gathered round their blazing homes To look once more into each other's face; This reminded me of Isaac Asimov's short story (and later, novel) Nightfall, in which a civilization of perpetual day (triple-sun solar system) experienced a once-in-a-millenium night. People went mad from seeing the stars, and burned their cities for light.

Lermontov's prose translation edit

{{editprotected}} To Sysops! Please add at the page Darkness the following link:

[[ru:Мрак. Тьма (Байрон/Лермонтов)]] (ru:Мрак. Тьма (Байрон/Лермонтов))

Thank you! Dmitrismirnov 09:02, 16 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

There is already a ru: link; should the current one be replaced with the one you have mentioned above, or should we link to both? If both are useful, could you explain why we want both, so that we can add a comment with each link to help readers pick the one they want. John Vandenberg (chat) 10:01, 16 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, we need both links because there are two different translations: the first is by Ivan Turgenev (that we already have) and the second by Mikhail Lermontov. Regards. Dmitrismirnov 16:24, 16 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, please add the one common link to disambig page on ru - [[ru:Тьма (Байрон)]] --Averaver (talk) 13:55, 18 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation page? edit

Is it possible to make a disambigiation page for "Darkness"? There are at least four titles that would fall under it. Thanks, Londonjackbooks (talk) 23:10, 16 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
