Information about this edition
Edition: First U.S. edition, 1885 and following
Source: Christian Classics Ethereal Library
Contributor(s): Quadell and his trusty sidekick Polbot
Level of progress: 50%: not proofread or standardised.
Notes: The source has many versions, including pagescans, text-only, and "ThML" (or "Theological Markup Language", so called), from which this Wikisource version was culled. I have done a quick once-over to compare this text to the original, but many formatting problems remain. Artifacts of the ThML, spacing, italics, etc.

Homilies on the Statues edit

This page currently reads “Homilies on the Statutes” under Volume IX. This is incorrect: they are the famous Homilies on the Statues. (Specifically, they were statues of the Emperor Theodosius and his family destroyed by rioters in Antioch; see the Wikipedia article on John Chrysostom.) The text in the volume itself correctly reads “Statues.”

I changed “Statutes” to “Statues,” but my edit was immediately reverted by Jan.Kamenicek. I can’t ask why because the user’s talk page is protected.

I’m not going to spend any more time on a very obvious error, since it’s a minor one that affects only the Wikisource table of contents and not the text itself. It will have to stand until somebody else takes care of it. Cbaile19 (talk) 21:37, 30 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
