This template is used for the laws of the Philippines. This handles the headings of the pages, including adding the {{header}} template, categorizing, and others.

Parameters edit

Essentials edit

  • abbr: the abbreviation of the law. This is to determine the layout of the heading, and other things. This is also used IRL when quoting a specific law. The abbreviations allowed are listed in the table below.
  • no: the number of the law
    • prev: the number of the previous law in the series. Use this only if the previous law is NOT no-1.
    • next: the number of the next law in the series. Use this only if the next law is NOT no+1.
  • year: the year wherein the law was approved/passed/signed.
  • title: the full title of the law. Don't alter the casing of the title (e.g. keep the italisized parts, don't turn the title into title case). Prioritizes the title property (P1476) in Wikidata (see below).
  • congress (optional if unavailable): the ordinal number (word form) of the congress.
  • session (optional if unavailable): the ordinal number (word form) of the session of the congress.
    • sessiontype (optional): the type of the session of the congress. Defaults to Regular.
  • place (optional): the place of the congress. Defaults to Metro Manila.
  • bill (optional if unavailable): the bills wherein the law was drafted. Usually seen on the top-right corner. Don't alter the casing and the wording, leave it as is. Separate each with <br/>.
  • begun (optional if unavailable): the text that states the date of the session
    Example: Begun and held at the City of Manila on Saturday, the twenty-fifth day of May, nineteen hundred and forty-six
  • amend (optional): the law/s that this law is amending, if any. Use the template {{PHLawAmend}} with action=amend. For more information, go to Template:PHLawAmend.
  • repeal (optional): the law/s that this law is repealing, if any. Use the template {{PHLawAmend}} with action=repeal. For more information, go to Template:PHLawAmend.
  • notes (optional): more info about the law.
  • pres (only required for abbreviations that have pres in the title, see table below): the president who created this law. Must be one of the following:
    • EA for Emilio Aguinaldo
    • MLQ for Manuel L. Quezon
    • JPL for Jose P. Laurel
    • SO for Sergio Osmeña
    • MAR for Manuel Roxas
    • EQ for Elpidio Quirino
    • RM for Ramon Magsaysay

Items on Wikidata edit

The infobox that this template creates pulls data from the Wikidata item that the page is linked to and displays it in the infobox. If these are not present, some data in the infobox will not show.

  • instance of (P31): value must be the Wikidata item for the law type.
    required qualifier series ordinal (P1545): value must be the number of the law, same with the no template parameter.
  • title (P1476): value must be the full title of the law, with the language set to English (en).
  • short name (P1813): value must be the short title of the law or no value (for laws that don't have a short title), with the language set to English (en).
  • publication date (P577): value must be the date when the law was approved, not the effectivity date.
  • main subject (P921): value/values must be the subject tackled by the law. Can be multiple values.
  • section, verse, paragraph, or clause (P958): value/values must be the sections the law. Can be multiple values. This is used for creating the table of contents box. Each value must have these three qualifiers:
    series ordinal (P1545): value must be the order of the section. Use dot notation to signify order. Examples:
    Section 3 -> 3
    Part IV Chapter XII Section 135 Subsection 2 -> 4.12.1.2 (assuming that Section 135 is the first section in Chapter XII)
    Book I Title 3 Chapter 3 Section 2 Article 34 -> 1.3.3.2.5 (assuming that Article 34 is the fifth article in Section 2)
    Part III Chapter I -> 3.1
    title (P1476): value must be the title of the section or no value if none
    short name (P1813): value must be the abbreviated part word, as shown on the table above.
