Template talk:Header/doc

Year field edit

This field has been added, though not documented. Has now had a couple of renditions, and now a couple of placements. It may be worth further consideration on formalising the field, and adding documentation. — billinghurst sDrewth 03:57, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Other fields found undocumented edit

While trawling through a work, these fields were found added to a header

|wikipedia_link = Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
|commons_link = Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
|commonscat_link = Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
|wikiquote_link = Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
|wikinews_link =
|wiktionary_link =
|wikibooks_link =
|wikiversity_link =
|wikispecies_link =
|meta_link =

None of these have been documented. Checks should be made on their existence and use within header. — billinghurst sDrewth 03:57, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

These parameters seem to be artefacts of a previous scheme, they are not currently coded into the template and do nothing. — billinghurst sDrewth 04:06, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
I wonder if it behaved like author? Cygnis insignis (talk) 04:24, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Those parameters never existed. —Pathoschild 12:24:38, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
Template:Interwikidiscreet has been made and it looks as though it would fold nicely into {{header}}, though that is something that needs broader support. Yes or no on whether to do it; are these the right parameter names, should we shorten or add alternatives. Or is the template sufficiently complex and we just making matters worse. — billinghurst sDrewth 05:48, 20 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata information required edit

This page needs to be modernised to take into account that Wikidata exists, and editions should be linked to Wikidata items at the top level of a work, and sometimes at subpage levels where the subpages meet the notability requirements for Wikidata items, eg. discrete sections on a subject. We should also give mention to the gadget that allows this to occur, and how it adds a wikidata link. — billinghurst sDrewth 00:36, 6 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
